“If we can release women living in poverty, they will do the rest”. In Nepal women are the one who is responsible for looking after their kids; farm, cattle, doing all household works. Generally she starts her day as soon as 4 am in morning and end it just after everyone in family is fed and relaxed. But on another hand her stressful and restless day’s works are never evaluated as important and never paid for those activities she carries everyday to make everyone in family comfortable and happy.

This cycle is going on and on…we haven’t seen a place where it ends, that’s why we have started our “Women Empowerment Project” in partnership with Kina Social Venture. We genuinely believe that when we all invest in girls/ women everyone wins; girls, women, their families, their communities and their nations. Women in the world are equal in number but not equal in status.

There may be so many different ways of empowering women as per their existing status, but we started by listening women at local level. It is their view and a long experience that they have been restricted to practice their human rights because they are unable to support their family economically. The do so many work but have not been paid so now they want to do something new or the same work but in a way that gives them income.

So we have started livelihood skill training to make school uniforms, local costumes, baby clothes using sewing machines. These clothes are being used in everyday life and are bright in community from a market which takes 2 days walk. Now the women can start small local market and sell their products at local level which will give them income. Beside those trainings also they were taught to conduct meetings within mother group and start saving some amount of money which they can use in any emergency situations, or any day they need it.

Now our first phase of Women empowerment Project is completed and our women are able to make basic clothing for their families and themselves, soon it will grow into a market and they will achieve their first level of empowerment.
